Westminster Abbey
After Tuesday’s engagement announcement, contenders on Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding month have emerged.
Kate Middleton was photographed paying Westminster Abbey a secret visit last night. With the entourage of officials and security officers fussing around her, she was beginning to look every inch a member of the Royal Family. The Abbey closed early to allow her to carry out the private visit.
A senior royal source said: ‘Kate knows St Paul’s fairly well but she wasn’t familiar with Westminster Abbey. So she wanted to get a feel for the place. Now that she has, the two of them will make a final decision. They are very close to that already, but want to discuss further with both their families.’
Her fiancé could not be with her because he was travelling back to his RAF base in North Wales to work.
A St James’s Palace spokesman said: ‘Miss Middleton paid a private visit to Westminster Abbey to consider the options and meet key staff there.’
Yesterday, the day after their engagement was announced, the royal couple hammered out many of the details for the ceremony with senior courtiers. In is looking increasingly likely that the Abbey (the site for Diana’s funeral as well as the Queen’s own wedding) will be the venue of choice. And the date? People including Tom Bradby — the chosen broadcaster for their first interview) say their preferred month is March… although may have to push it back for the public’s desire of a sunny summer wedding.

The Queen’s blessing… sealed with a kiss
Sources also say The Queen has given William her blessing to marry Kate sealed with a kiss. William made a special trip to see his grandmother at her Scottish residence, Balmoral Castle, to speak to her about his intention to marry.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “It was emotional. The queen was absolutely delighted for William and for Kate, who she is very fond of. Their talk ended with an affectionate kiss on the cheek between the queen and Wills.”
