Will William & Kate kiss on the balcony?

Will William & Kate kiss on the balcony?

Prince William and Kate Middleton will appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace following their wedding next year – just like Princess Diana and Prince Charles did 30 years earlier. And when they do, they are certain to face pressure to share a kiss from the hundreds of thousands of well-wishers expected to line The Mall.

The Mail on Sunday has been told that courtiers are working on an 11:30am ceremony at Westminster Abbey on April 29, to be followed by a traditional wedding breakfast at Buckingham Palace hosted by the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. But before that, the Royal couple will appear on the balcony to acknowledge the crowds.

The kiss – will they or won’t they? Charles and Diana kissed. Andrew and Fergie kissed. However, Edward and Sophie did not.

Buckingham Palace had been kept in the dark over William’s plans until last week. But now the Queen’s aides are being consulted over the wedding breakfast and reception, as well as the traditional ball to be held at the Palace two days before the big day.

“The Queen loves a wedding and she sees this as a celebration for everyone to enjoy,” said a Palace source. “She wants to be involved and thinks a wedding breakfast and a balcony appearance will both be appropriate. Ultimately it is up to the couple. They have made it clear they want to do things their own way, but the Queen is hoping and expecting that tradition will also be very much a part of the day.”

Harry Invites Chelsy to the Wedding; Pippa to be Lady in Waiting?

Prince Harry has invited ex-girlfriend Chelsy Davy to his brother’s wedding even though they split up two months ago. Could this be a sign that they’re getting back together? The pair have been in touch and Harry is hoping to travel to Africa to see Chelsy over Christmas.

Chelsy last week contacted Kate Middleton to congratulate her on her wedding news. “Chelsy was genuinely happy for Kate and wanted to wish her all the best,” says one of Chelsy’s friends. “She has been speaking to Harry, who’s very excited about the wedding and helping William plan his big day. It got Chelsy thinking that she would like to be there, too. All of her friends in Jo’burg are predicting that she will be at the wedding.”

Harry, who will be William’s best man or ‘supporter’, has asked for Chelsy to be put on the guest list. “The invitations haven’t gone out yet but William and Kate are drawing up lists. Harry would like Chelsy on the list because they are back in touch, even if she just comes over as a friend. William has always liked Chelsy and doesn’t have a problem with her being there and neither does Kate. They’d both love to see her again.”

Meanwhile, Kate is considering asking her younger sister Pippa, 26, to be her lady-in-waiting once she is married. It has already been reported that Pippa is likely to be one of the bridesmaids, but Kate is hoping her sister’s involvement will extend beyond the big day.

Duties of a lady-in-waiting include responding to personal mail and traveling with the Royal party on official visits. Ladies-in-waiting are traditionally friends or relatives. Last night, St James’s Palace said it was ‘too early to comment’ on the idea.
