These scans are from an article in the Sunday Express  – 08 Nov 2009 – written by royal editor Camilla Tominey.  It has pictures of Kate Middleton and her mother Carole hiding their faces from photographers.  The pictures are not dated, but appear new to me.  The column points out that their current strategy of demanding privacy and not commenting on anything is actually damaging, and that William and Kate would benefit from embracing the media more.  Click on the thumbnails to enlarge.

While I don’t entirely agree that Kate should just allow photographers to snap away at every opportunity, it makes relevant points and echoes what many royal watchers believe in. As for me, Kate Middleton is a private individual  until she’s married into the Royal Family. And still, even if the Royal Family lived off taxpayers’ money, that does NOT make them the public’s possession, and should therefore be entitled to a private life. As any person – celebrity or not – Kate Middleton has the right to decide when and where she wants to expose her face.  A children’s charity event could benefit from her uncovered face.  Random snaps of her walking around London doesn’t serve the same purpose.
