As we discussed yesterday, 1900 guests were invited to Prince William & Kate Middleton’s wedding ceremony at Westminster Abbey on April 29.  Roughly 600 will join the lunch reception hosted by the Queen, and only 300 close family and friends will join the evening dinner and dance hosted by Prince Charles.  As Prince William is not next in line to the throne, no heads of state (unless acquainted) were invited.  No Obamas.  No Sarkozys.  No Fergie.  For the break down of guests at the ceremony , refer to yesterday’s post.

So who will we expect at the wedding?  Here are some names you might recognize…. Newscore says:

  • Prince William’s (rumoured) old girlfriends Jecca Craig and Olivia Hunt
  • Kate Middleton’s ex-boyfriend Rupert Finch from St. Andrews
  • David & Victoria Beckham (though their rep refused to comment)
  • UK Prime Minister David Cameron, Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, Treasury chief George Osborne, Labour Party leader Ed Miliband
  • Engagement interviewer Tom Bradby and his wife Claudia
  • Kate’s Jigsaw boss Belle & John Robinson
  • Friends Holly & Sam Branson, Thomas van Straubenzee, Harry Meade, Trinny Lough
  • Kate’s disgraced uncle Gary Goldsmith (wedding ceremony only)

Other than members of William’s charity and heads of the Commonwealth Realms, around 40 foreign crowned heads were invited. Among the surprise invitees are the King of Jordan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, the Sultan of Oman, the King of Bahrain, the Sultan of Brunei and the King of Saudi Arabia as well as the Emperor of Japan, the King of Malaysia, the King of Tonga and the King of Thailand.

Kate has reportedly hired top hat-maker Philip Treacy to create headgear for the Royal Wedding party, including Kate’s mum Carole.  It will surely be one glorious madhattery affair!
