Prince William supports CD for the homeless
Prince William joined a host of celebs from the music and TV world to launch a CD to help his mum’s charity, Centrepoint. He has followed in the footsteps of Princess Diana to become an ambassador of young homeless.
The album 1969: Key To Change sees The Feeling, Johnny Marr, 46, and Jools Holland, 52, sing favourites from the year which saw the launch of Centrepoint.
Some old songs have a new twist. Jools Holland pairs up with soul singer Ruby Turner, 52, for Billy Preston’s You Are So Beautiful. Former The Smiths’ guitarist Johnny opts for Rabbit Mackay’s Tendency To Be Free, while The Feeling go for the one-hit wonder In The Year 2525.
Radio 1 DJ Sara Cox, 35, said: “We hope it will make a real impact in raising awareness and generating much needed funding so that Centrepoint can continue to transform lives.”
Jools said: “The charity helps people who through no fault of their own get into difficulty, and it all happens under our noses. It is very important now to help these people. Royal involvement does help a charity. The profile of the charity is raised and when someone like Prince William is involved it increases the chance of it being a success.”
This is not the first time that William has helped out Centrepoint. He accompanied his mum on visits to homeless shelters and last December he slept rough in London with temperatures as low as –4C.

Kate Middleton parked Audi in police bay
Kate Middleton fell foul of the law when she drove to Kensington in West London for a spot of shopping. She cheekily parked her new Audi car in a police bay – and was promptly moved on by a traffic attendant.
‘Kate was told she couldn’t park there,’ says a spy. ‘She rather sheepishly got back into her car and drove off.’
A tweet a few days ago did report seeing Kate’s encounter with a traffic attendant in Kensington. She was driving a blue Audi (which is likely an old car, unlike what the report says).
