Princess Beatrice Crashes her BMW

Princess Beatrice crashes her BMW

Princess Beatrice was involved in a car crash when her BMW was crushed between a double-decker bus and a coach on one of London’s most notorious roundabouts on Monday. The 22-year-old was driving in heavy traffic between 1:30 and 2:00pm in the afternoon and was caught in a smash on London’s Hyde Park Corner, yards from the grounds of Buckingham Palace.

Beatrice burst into tears after becoming sandwiched between the two high-sided vehicles as she drove around the six-lane roundabout with her bodyguard in the passenger seat. Both climbed out of the car unhurt but shaken.

The fifth in line to the throne was forced to stand at the side of the busy road as she called her parents on her mobile, while the Scotland Yard protection officer swapped insurance details with the other drivers in the accident.

A source said “Beatrice was sandwiched and her cherished car was pretty badly damaged on both sides. It was all very hairy – she was in tears and traumatised. She had a lucky escape.”

A back-up car was called to collect her.  The damaged black BMW 1 Series with personalised plates has been returned to the garage and may be a write-off.

The car was a replacement for a similar model given as a 17th birthday gift by her father Prince Andrew, the Duke of York.  The original was stolen in broad daylight when it was left unlocked with the keys in the ignition while the princess and her minder went shopping in Kensington in January last year.

Prince Harry Seeing a Chelsy Lookalike?

Party-loving law graduate Gemma Wilkinson

Party-loving law graduate Gemma Wilkinson

Prince Harry has found a stunning new girlfriend only weeks after he was dumped by Chelsy Davy. He has been on a series of dates with blonde marketing girl Gemma Wilkinson – an uncanny lookalike of Chelsy – and has told friends he “couldn’t be happier”.

A source close to Gemma, 26, told the Sunday Mirror: “She’s very similar in looks to Chelsy and Harry loves a blonde. Harry and Gemma have been on the same social circuit in London for some years now and recently got it together after being introduced by mutual friends. They both party in clubs like Raffles around the King’s Road so it’s no surprise their paths have crossed. But Harry seems quite taken by her right now. At the moment it’s nothing serious – but who knows what the future may hold. They’re quite content enjoying a ‘no-strings’ style relationship for now.”

Like Chelsy, Gemma is also a law graduate.

Harry, 26, has been single for only a matter of weeks after being ditched by South African Chelsy, ending a 6-year relationship. Devastated Chelsy ended her romance with the third in line to the throne after told her he was not ready to settle down.

The trainee lawyer had also returned to South Africa to continue her studies. A source revealed: “Harry’s name is mud with Chelsy and her friends. He messed her about too much. Harry’s been dubbed the Dirty Dog by Chelsy’s gang. He was in no way taking their relationship seriously – whereas Chelsy really was. She’s pleased she’s split with Harry now and can get on with her private life. She wanted the commitment of a proper relationship.”

Meanwhile, News of the World reports that Chelsy is back in contact with property developer Dan Philipson, who she briefly dated during her split with Harry last year. [Source: News of the World]

A tweet has recently spotted Chelsy in the restaurant Beluga in South Africa.

Heart Attack Survivor Thanks Prince William

He had waited two years to take part in his first live helicopter search and when he did, Prince William rescued a heart attack victim.

Richard Moran, of Fishwick, Preston, had been working at an off-shore gas rig in Morecambe Bay last weekend when he suffered a heart attack. The father-of-three was rushed to hospital by an RAF Sea King helicopter co-piloted by Prince William in his first ever rescue flight. The dramatic rescue came just 2 weeks after the prince’s graduation as a fully-qualified helicopter co-pilot.

Richard, a catering team leader for contracting company Aramark, said he vaguely remembered waving his thanks at the departing helicopter but today said “thank you” to the young Royal and his RAF crew.

“It was just an ordinary day at work I started suffering from what I thought was heartburn,” he said of his heart attack. “I went to see the medical officer at work and he gave me some heartburn relief medication. It never occurred to me that it could be a heart attack, as I had always been healthy and well and am active and eat healthily.”

“I knew there was a chance Prince William could be on the helicopter as I knew he was with the RAF,” Richard continued. “But to be honest, at that point, it was the last thing on my mind. I saw Prince William as I was coming off the helicopter, but did not realise it was him until later. Everything was a bit hazy, but I remember waving my thanks to the pilots as I came off.”

Richard has been booked in for heart bypass surgery later this month and has been told to take it easy and not do anything strenuous.

“It is great that Prince William is a normal person who is not afraid to get his hands dirty and I want to thank him and everyone else on the crew.”

Prince William’s Wedding Promise to Kate Middleton

Another weekend non-story.  Don’t even know where the writer got the “10 year” figure…

Reluctant royal groom Prince William has promised his long-suffering girlfriend Kate Middleton he will announce their wedding plans within months.  Kate and William, both 28, this week began their tenth year together after meeting as students at St Andrews University in Scotland.

One friend said: “She can hardly believe that all those years have slipped by and she’s still uncertain about the future.  Kate does not want to be still waiting around on their tenth anniversary next October. It’s a cliché but she really has dedicated the best years of her life to William. Most of her friends are married and starting their families. Kate loves William but the longer this goes on, the stranger he seems to her.”

William’s aides say the prince already thinks of himself as “privately engaged”. One said: “His view is that he’s protecting her from the pressure his mother Princess Diana suffered in the public eye.”

Will Prince Charles Ever Wear the Crown?

A new Vanity Fair article reveals how the quiet prince feels about his position. See the interview above. Source: ABC News

Prince Charles, Defender of Nature

Prince Charles has already said he will take the title of Defender of the Faith when he becomes King.  But now the Prince of Wales has pledged to dedicate himself to becoming the Defender of Nature.

In an interview to promote his new book, Harmony, released next week, the Prince said: “I am absolutely determined to be the defender of nature. Full stop. That’s what the rest of my life is going to be concerned with.  I think people don’t quite understand how much it requires to put your head above the parapet. It’s no fun having your head shot off all the time. But I just feel deeply. I know perfectly well this book is going to bring all of my critics out of their lairs.”

In the book, he talks of his ‘duty’ to bring ‘balance’ to the environment, and bemoans how he has spent decades trying to reform people’s behaviour by challenging centuries of thinking.

But such a mission does not come without its critics. He told Vanity Fair magazine “After a bit, you’ve been through fire so you become tempered and you just expect it.” Asked why he persevered, he said: “The only reason is I mind.”

In Harmony, the Prince also coins a new term – ‘whole-istic’ – to emphasise how the whole of society needs to be overhauled, from medicine and education to science, technology and architecture.

Prince Harry Taliban Docu-Drama to Air on Channel 4

Channel 4 is to air a “docu-drama” on Prince Harry’s time in Afghanistan with the Army. The 90-minute film, called The Taking of Prince Harry, will show the Prince being subjected to mock executions and forced to appear in propaganda films.

The broadcaster has defended its decision to make the film, anticipating accusations that it will give succour to militants fighting Nato troops.

Harry served in Afghanistan’s Helmand province alongside the Gurkhas. His presence in the country was subject to a media black-out because of worries that he could become a Taliban target if it became widely known that he had been deployed. He spent 10 weeks working as a forward air controller until his cover was blown on the internet. Harry was flown home in February 2008 when the secret was leaked.

Channel 4′s head of documentaries, Hamish Mykura, said the broadcaster had informed Buckingham Palace about the film, but had not had any response. Mr Mykura said he did not think that making the film increased the risk of potential high-profile kidnappings.

He said: “I think it is just wrong to say that this would create a new idea that wasn’t there already. In the film we mentioned that his nickname when he was there last was ‘Bullet Magnet’ and we know that there were quite a lot of reports and stories of jihadi websites saying he should be the number one target.”

He added that he felt the film dealt with a “timely” subject in an appropriate and responsible manner.

The show, which will be broadcast on Thursday October 21 at 9pm, includes scenes where the Prince is confronted by a British-born radical Islamist and details how the British Government’s approach to hostage negotiations differs from other nations.

A Clarence House spokesman said: “We are not prepared to comment on this work of fiction. Speculating about the security of Prince Harry, both as a serving member of the Armed Forces and a senior member of the Royal Family, is unhelpful.”

He said Harry had been told about the programme and added: “His reaction is private.”
