Wills & Kate Wedding Rumours Just Won’t Stop

Prince William & Kate Middleton wedding rumours continue...

Prince William & Kate Middleton wedding rumours continue...

This time, it’s from Richard Smith of The Mirror…

Prince William and his longterm girlfriend Kate Middleton are to marry next year. Their formal engagement will be announced early in 2011 followed by a summer wedding – which will be declared a national holiday.

Confirming secret plans are under way, a royal insider said: “William has decided the time is right.  William realised that he couldn’t keep stringing Kate along forever.  And although he would have loved to remain single until his mid-thirties, the fact is he knows that Kate is the right girl for him.”

“A royal wedding takes months of planning. The first steps have been taken and it’s all systems go, although they won’t want to admit it just yet.”

Now Prince William is finally set to tie the knot with Kate Middleton – the beautiful brunette who stole his heart while they were both students.  They have been an item for more than eight years.  The happy couple  are said to be considering three possible dates in July and August next year, but will make a final decision nearer the time.

News on Prince Harry’s Lovelife

Camilla Romestrand

Dating Camilla Romestrand?

Last week it was Gemma Wilkinson, now the tabloids are reporting someone else..

Prince Harry is rumored to be dating Scandinavian rock singer Camilla Romestrand after they met in London. Actually the lead singer of rock band Eddie the Gun was the one fueling rumors about a possible relationship with the prince. According to News of the World, Camilla told friends that she spent the night at royal residence Clarence House, where the prince served her breakfast in bed.

“She’s confided to a few people about her friendship with Harry. She talks about staying overnight at ‘the Palace’. She says he was a ‘total gentleman’ but doesn’t divulge much else. She doesn’t want to talk openly about Harry because she’s worried it will overshadow her music”, one of her pals told the tabloid.

And now, varied reports on the reason for Harry and Chelsy’s breakup…

Harry was a Playboy, says Chelsy

Chelsy Davy dumped playboy Prince Harry after he asked her to share him with other girls.

Chelsy had agreed to one last heart-to-heart with the prince to see if their seven-year romance could be revived. But she was astonished when cocky Harry told her he’d be happy to see her again – if he could date other women too.

“She hit the roof,” said one pal. “Chelsy may not have blue blood but she’s got too much self-respect to let him get away with that. She’s not going to be some international dial-a-date he can fly in when he feels like it.”

Hello! has details behind Harry & Chelsy split

Last week sources confirmed to HELLO! that the prince and his Zimbabwe-born love have called time on their seven-year romance.

After Chelsy returned to Africa earlier this year, a source said: “Nobody dumped anyone. It was a mutual decision as they were living so far apart. It is as straightforward as that. They are still talking regularly and remain best friends.”

What remains to be seen is whether Harry and Chelsy will rekindle their romance – something they’ve done on at least five occasions – when the pretty blonde returns to England to start her legal training.

The details are in this week’s issue of Hello! Magazine, issue number 1146.

I thought Chelsy was continuing her career in Africa?!  And why would distance be a problem is she were to return to London all along?

Army Chief Demands Cancel of Prince Harry Kidnapping Documentary

Channel 4s The Taking of Prince Harry

Channel 4's "The Taking of Prince Harry"

The head of the Armed Forces has written to Channel 4 to demand it does not show a “dramatised documentary” based on what would happen if Prince Harry were to be taken prisoner in Afghanistan.

The 90-minute film, called The Taking Of Prince Harry, features contributions from former hostages and intelligence expert.

A defence source said Air Chief Marshal Sir Jock Stirrup argued in a letter to Channel 4’s chairman, Lord Burns, that the programme would be distressing for the families of service personnel and potentially undermine the security and morale of troops in Afghanistan.

The source added: “If Channel 4 goes ahead, as looks likely, they will fail in their duty to respect the sacrifices that our armed forces and their families make on behalf of the whole country. They will no doubt say this is a serious journalistic exercise but no responsible broadcaster would treat such a serious subject as the morale of our brave service personnel with such casual disregard.”

The programme includes scenes showing the Prince, played by actor Sebastian Reid, being held behind enemy lines while negotiations are carried out to free him.

A Channel 4 spokesman said that the broadcaster intended to go ahead with the film, which is scheduled to be shown this Thursday at 9pm, despite Sir Jock’s protests.

The Royal Mint Preparing for Prince William & Kate Middleton’s Wedding?

What William & Kates commemorative coin might look

What William & Kate's commemorative wedding coin might look

The Royal Mint has made preparations to begin production of a commemorative coin to celebrate the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, fueling speculation that they are poised to announce their engagement.

The Mail on Sunday has been told that a plaster mould of the special coin has been made, the first step in the manufacturing process. The project is so secret that staff at the Royal Mint’s plant at Llantrisant have been banned from talking about the coin, but insiders have confirmed that the initial design work has been done.

One source said: “I have seen the plaster model from which they will cast the die. They are ready to go. All they are waiting for is the date.”

A Mint spokesman said that no commission had been received from the Government or Royal Household in connection with the expected wedding of William and Kate. ‘The Royal Mint lies at the heart of British celebrations and commemorates all important Royal occasions. ” Were a major Royal event announced we would certainly look to produce a commemorative coin to mark the occasion. The coin would then go on sale to the public as a permanent memento of the Royal announcement. Any coin produced by the Royal Mint has to be approved by Her Majesty the Queen before it is released and a coin relating to her family is no different. Like most business organisations, we plan ahead for commercial opportunities.”

A spokesman for Clarence House said: “We have not heard from the Royal Mint, or anyone else for that matter, about making a coin to mark an engagement or wedding. If they have prepared a mould, it is without our knowledge.”

Prince William ‘frustrated’ for being banned from serving in Afghanistan

In a new TV documentary, which follows Prince William and Prince Harry on their first official visit to Africa, William talks about his annoyance at the decision, but says it was “made by others”.

An insider said: “The documentary is a great glimpse of the real Prince William and how down to earth he is. He is also very honourable and obviously frustrated that he can’t serve his country.”

Why the British Monarchy Needs a Makeover

A very insightful article from Richard Palmer of The Express…

The British Royal Family

The British Royal Family

The Queen has done a wonderful job for Britain but Prince Charles is right: the monarchy needs a different style if it going to survive the 21st century.

In her 58 years on the throne, his mother has done a pretty good job of changing with the times, often so gradually and imperceptibly that the majority of us have barely noticed, enabling the monarchy to remain relevant while stressing one of its core values, continuity. In 2012 she will rightly be hailed as an icon of our age when she celebrates her Diamond Jubilee.

But as we prepare to gear up to mark her 60 years on the throne, it is hard to escape the feeling that the institution of monarchy needs to change a bit more quickly with the times. Constrained by their conservatism, the institution has become a bit too staid. Senior Buckingham Palace officials, as aloof as the North Korean leadership, have got out of touch with what is expected of a Royal Family on the cusp of the second decade of the 21st century.

In our celebrity-obsessed age, you don’t hear people talking about the royals like they used to. When was the last time you heard someone in a pub debating the merits of Princess Anne, Prince Edward, or even Princes William and Harry and their girlfriends?

The Royal Family and their advisers need to be a little bit more accountable and pro-active, engaging with ordinary people (and the media who write and broadcast for them) and looking at new ways to bring the nation together. If the monarchy is to survive, perhaps the best hope is that some of the old elitist ways of doing things will be abandoned when Prince Charles becomes King.
