May Wedding for Zara Phillips & Mike Tindall?

Wedding bells could be ringing sooner rather than later for Zara Phillips. The royal and her husband-to-be Mike Tindall, who live in Cheltenham, are hoping to set a date for their big day in May. The possible wedding date will come just a month after her cousin, Prince William, ties the knot to Kate Middleton. According to reports, the bride has chosen May so the celebrations will not clash with her grandfather Prince Philip’s 90th birthday in June.

Zara, 29, and Gloucester Rugby ace Mike, 32, are expected to marry in a relatively small ceremony at St George’s Chapel in Windsor. The couple were engaged in December when Mike proposed at the couple’s home.

The Telegraph also reports that Zara and Mike are “seriously considering” a highly lucrative deal in which Hello! Magazine would publish exclusive photographs of their wedding. In 2008, it has been disclosed that Zara’s brother Peter Phillips had agreed on a £500,000 deal with Hello! to cover his marriage to Autumn Kelly, to which senior members of the royal family reportedly disapproved.

“Zara and her family have a very good relationship with Hello! and were delighted by its coverage of her brother’s wedding,” says a friend of Zara. “Hello! told them in the past that they would be keen to cover their wedding when they got married and they will seriously consider any offer they receive. It’s not true that the family were unhappy. As far as Zara knows, no one made any negative comments about it at all. They thought the pictures were lovely.”

Zara’s spokesman says Hello! “puts in a bid about every two months to do something with Zara and Mike”, but has not yet made an offer for their wedding rights.

Police Release New Footage Of Prince Charles, Camilla Attack

Police have released new footage of an attack on Prince Charles’ car during the tuition fees protests in London in an attempt to trace those responsible. Detectives who are investigating the violence on December 9 issued CCTV pictures from the Regent and Oxford Street areas of the city. There has been widespread criticism of the apparent lapse in security which left the pair visibly shaken and shocked but unharmed.

The video and images released show four people officers from the Operation Malone team would like to trace in connection with events. One shows a woman striking the Royal car and breaking the back window of one of the convoy vehicles. She is pictured with a man, whom police would like to trace as a potential witness. Officers are also keen to identify two men seen separately attacking the car.

At least three metal dustbins were also hurled at two other cars in the convoy which was travelling to Royal Variety Performance at the London Palladium.

Savannah Phillips, the Queen’s First Great-Grandchild

The Queen’s first great-grandchild has been named Savannah. The baby girl, who is 12th in line to the throne, was born on December 29 to the Queen’s grandson Peter Phillips and his Canadian wife Autumn. Although her name had not been officially yet, it was revealed at a church service yesterday at the Royal estate of Sandringham, Norfolk, attended by the Royal family.

Rector of Sandringham the Reverend Jonathan Riviere made a mention in a prayer for “Peter and Autumn Phillips and their daughter Savannah.”

It was the first time the name had been used in public. The name is rare in the UK and is thought to have no special meaning beyond what it signifies when describing the landscape – an open plain.

In the same church service, Princess Anne vowed not to spoil her first grandchild.

Outside, Mary Relph, from nearby Shouldham, said: “I congratulated her and said that I thought she would be spoilt, but Princess Anne said the baby wouldn’t be spoilt by her.”

Harry, the Prince of Darts

A smiling Prince Harry stuns fans by turning up to watch the World Darts Championships last night.

The 26-year-old royal – on a break from military duties – sat in the VIP area with pals including ex-England rugby union star Will Greenwood, 38. Harry stayed off the booze but he did go to the bar and returned with a round of lagers in plastic cups for his mates.

The Prince sneaked into Alexandra Palace, North London, when the lights were down. After Lewis beat Mark Webster to win a place in the grand final tonight, Prince Harry broke royal protocol and went up to congratulate him with a hug.

It appears like Harry remained in the UK for the entire holiday season, squashing rumours that he would spend part of it in South Africa with ex-girlfriend Chelsy Davy.

Prince Charles is 2010′s Hardest Working Royal

The title belonged used to belong to Princess Anne, but last year, the Prince of Wales topped all the royals with 585 official engagements.

Also very significant was the Queen’s numbers — 444 engagements for the entire year at the age of 84.  That’s up by 69 from 2009. And there are no plans to slow down, with a busy 2011 and 2012′s Diamond Jubilee.

Most of the royals saw an increased workload in 2010, with many of them done overseas. And despite full-time training/careers, Princes William and Harry also saw increases since 2009.

Princess Anne = 514 engagements
The Duchess of Cornwall = 243 engagements
Prince William = 73 engagements
Prince Harry = 53 engagements

Kate Middleton’s Friend Cautioned by Police after Racist Gun Threat

Kate Middleton training with The Sisterhood, with Emma Sayle in white shirt. 2007

Emma Sayle, 32, was formally questioned by police earlier this month after officers received a complaint about a message on her Facebook. The events organiser is the head of The Sisterhood, an all-female charity group which Kate Middleton joined in 2007.

Miss Sayle caused outrage when she posted a Facebook message that read: ‘Just had a two-hour shooting lesson. She will now be using this skill on the top of East London high rises to help with the UK’s illegal immigrant problem.’ It was reported to the police.  She was questioned and received a caution but will face no redress over her online message.

Kate Middleton had been a member of The Sisterhood crew in 2007, training for a charity boat race, but she was forced to pull out of a planned cross-Channel rowing attempt due to security fears. Miss Sayle organised the event, which saw the crew row to France in a Chinese ‘dragon boat’ , completing the 21-mile journey in less than four hours.

A collective video report on the William & Kate – No Servants issue via Newsy…

Rumours abound from Royal correspondents via Twitter that William and Kate are together for New Year’s, but they are not and will not be in Sandringham as speculated.  Where they are is anyone’s guess. Also, Harry is said to be in the UK — not in South Africa with Chelsy Davy as Katie Nicholl previously suggested.  Hope we get confirmation soon.

Strike Threats and Security Plans for Royal Wedding

Union bosses have threatened a series of coordinated strikes in late spring to coincide with the royal wedding. They intend to bring workers out on strike at the end of April, when the eyes of the world will be on Britain for Prince William’s wedding to Kate Middleton on April 29.

Mark Serwotka, general secretary of the Public and Commercial Services Union, which represents 300,000 civil servants, said: “Strikes are inevitable. We are looking at the spring. Unless you look like you want a fight, they won’t negotiate. The Government has to see we are serious. Actions around Easter have quite an effect because so much is happening at that time of year. The end of April, beginning of May would be best. The royal wedding would not be a factor in our planning but nor would it be a factor to avoid.”

Perhaps it’s fitting, then, that SAS snipers have been drafted to safeguard the wedding day.

SAS snipers will go undercover in a major counter-terror clampdown on the streets. The elite soldiers will join Afghan war veterans from the Special Reconnaissance Regiment to spot potential attacks and safeguard the big day.

Working alongside police officers, they will blend in with the crowds and man fixed observation posts on roofs and mobile units hidden in unmarked cars and vans. The experts will also identify vulnerable points along the wedding procession route, which is expected to attract tens of thousands of well-wishers.
