Prince William’s long-time girlfriend turns 28.  Catherine Elizabeth Middleton was born on January 8, 1982 in Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading to a pilot and an air hostess.  Now she just might turn out to be Britain’s future queen.

As usual, rumours are a-flying as to where she celebrated her birthday.  Richard Palmer from The Express initially claimed she and William were going to Sandringham to have tea with the Queen. [Article: The Express]. But alas, the same publication refuted their own story, saying both Buckingham Palace and Clarence House denied that the pair spent the day with the Queen. They wouldn’t reveal their location, but said “they’re spending the weekend together.” [Article: The Express]

Most plausible of all, the Daily Mail says Kate celebrated with her family in their country home in Bucklebury, Berkshire, just as they did last year. Sister Pippa (a party planner) arranged the party, brother James (owns the Cake Kit Company) baked the cake, and mum Carole stuffed pillows so William and his bodyguards could sleep over. They considered a bash in Highgrove, but weather wouldn’t permit. And London is too public. After all, above everything, what Kate wants is to spend time with William before he leaves for Australia & NZ. These all sound like silly speculation, of course, but it doesn’t surprise me that Kate decided on a low key birthday with close friends and family.

Wherever and however they celebrated, we wish Kate a very happy birthday!
