Princess-to-be Kate Middleton made her first public official engagement today as she accompanied fiancePrince William in a Lifeboat Naming Ceremony in Anglesey, North Wales, where he is stationed as an RAF SAR pilot. As Kate’s first public day on the role, it also eerily marks the 30th anniversary (to the very day) of Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s engagement
The verdict? Very impressive, according to reports and royal correspondents. Relaxed, natural and all smiles. Proving she did her homework, Kate and William even impressed locals by singing the Welsh national anthem perfectly.
On a blustery podium, where the wind played havoc with Kate’s hair, William said, “It gives me huge pleasure to be introducing to this relationship, here and now, someone who is not only about to join the Family, but is also about to become an ‘Anglesonian.’ “
William said that while he does the “talking bit, she’s going to do the fun bit.” And with that Kate poured champagne on the lifeboat, named Hereford Endeavour.
After the lifeboat naming, the royal couple did a walkabout to greet the crowds

She did a good job! But I was a little disappointed with her outfit! It was too brown and better suited for either Camilla or the Queen. Maybe she’ll pick better tomorrow. Something more youthfull and glamourous, like the January wedding or the lunch with Camilla. Atleast a new outfit.
She looked beautiful. Loved them! *Excited for the future*
Got to say that Catherine did incredibly well today. Hats off! Such poise and such confidence. I laughed at the video that said William looked more nervous than her. So true. Next up —- St. Andrews!
@Sunflowerseeds: Agreed. What a lovely first appearance from Kate. I’m sure William & the Palace are pleased. Here’s the opinion of Richard Palmer (who was at the ceremony):

What a delight she is and what a lovely couple they make. I for one will enjoy seeing more of them as they go about their public engagements. So looking forward to the wedding now! Prince William has done his mother proud!
