He was man the late Princess Diana called “Mr Wonderful”  and is regarded by many as the love of her life.  Now, twelve years after her death, surgeon Hasnat Khan appears to have found happiness again.

At a fundraising for children’s heart charity last week, the normally shy Mr Khan happily posed for photos and appeared ‘very tactile’ with his date – colleague Alexandra Panagoulos.

The Pakistani-born heart surgeon, who works at Basildon Hospital in Essex, never wanted to talk about his relationship with Princess Diana, although Diana had told friends she wanted to marry him and even convert to Islam. Their affair began when they met at London’s Royal Brompton Hospital, and lasted 2 years, continuing until a few months before her death. Some even believe she only hooked up with Dodi Al Fayed to make him jealous.  Since then, Mr. Khan had gone on to marry Hadia Sher Ali in May 2006, but the couple divorced a short while later.
