Elton John performing at Diana's funeral

This is speculation at best.  Doubtful, IMO, especially with Earl Spencer (Diana’s brother) not having a particularly good relationship with the Royal Family since her death…

Earl Spencer is planning to make a speech at Prince William’s wedding to Kate Middleton, the Daily Mail says. At William’s request, Charles Spencer will talk about his late sister Diana during the ceremony, the earl’s daughter Lady Kitty Spencer has told friends. Lady Kitty, 19, could also be made one of Kate’s bridesmaids as the prince tries to heal the rift between the Spencers and the royals, the teenager has claimed.

Lady Kitty, a student, told a friend in her home town of Cape Town that William wants her father to “represent his sister, and to talk about her at the wedding.”

Veteran chart star Sir Elton John has suggested he could have a role at next year’s royal wedding. The musician – who was a favourite of Prince William’s late mother Diana, Princess of Wales – said he would “probably” perform. Sir Elton famously performed at Diana’s funeral after the lyrics to his hit Candle In The Wind were adapted to reflect her life. The song went on to become the biggest-selling single in UK chart history as it tapped into the nation’s grief.

When Radio 2 presenter Steve Wright asked Sir Elton whether he would perform at the wedding, he replied: “I probably am.” But he then quickly joked: “I’ll probably be busking outside.”

Kate treats grateful police minders to Tea

Kate Middleton has been dubbed “K-Tea” by grateful police minders – for ensuring they get a hot cuppa while shivering outside her home. The royal bride-to-be’s house in Bucklebury, Berks is being guarded round-the-clock after she and Prince William announced their engagement.

Even when Kate is away a uniformed policeman is on duty. The cop is joined on patrol by two royal protection officers when she returns to the five-bed country pile in Berkshire.

A Thames Valley Police source said: “Kate’s home is in the middle of nowhere – and it does get very brass monkeys when you are out guarding the front gate. Kate this week took pity on the officers and installed a kettle for them in the garage – along with a mini-fridge which has a pint of skimmed and a pint of full fat milk put in every day. It means officers can have a brew whenever they want. There is a choice of teas and coffees and a jar of hot chocolate.”

The source added: “The guys on duty have dubbed her K-Tea but are very thankful for the gesture – because it is below freezing most nights.”
