Starlight and Party Pieces

As royal readers know, Kate Middleton’s family business Party Pieces has recently joined forces with Starlight, a charity for terminally ill children. A quick visit to both websites reveal some relevant information about what they really do.

Party Pieces appears to have been involved in Starlight’s Party Programme since Autumn 2008, as revealed in their website.  Last Christmas, they also helped arrange 200 parties for over 10,000 children.

This summer, Starlight’s Party Programme once again celebrated with lots of parties and pantomimes.  “We’ve funded nearly 300% more parties than this time last year. And with the help of our lovely friends at Party Pieces, we’ve delivered over 1,400 goody bags, along with pretty party plates, cups and sparkly star decorations. We are also thrilled to have completed our Starlight party goodies redesign with the help of the clever folk at Party Pieces.”

Finally, here’s Starlight’s news page regarding the recent Art for Starlight event on September 26, 2009 at the Saatchi Gallery in Chelsea.  The night was organized by Maggie & Rose, a private members club for families.  Kate hosted a table for 20 guests, which included Prince William and her whole family.

Move to Ban Paparazzi from Sandringham

The Queen has instructed lawyers to issue a strong warning to newspaper and magazine editors, instructing them not to use any paparazzi snaps of the Royal family during their annual stay at Sandringham. This is another bid from the Royal Family to protect their privacy. But of course, tongues are a-wagging…

Pictures of the Queen and other royals out hunting on the estate — killing or beating animals — have regularly appeared in newspapers for decades, but this is the first time the Queen has taken steps to warn off photographers. It has led to controversy and criticism. In 2004 the Queen herself was photographed clubbing a wounded pheasant to death with a walking stick, and in 2000 she was pictured wringing a pheasant’s neck which had been brought to her by a Labrador. Finally, last December, Prince Edward was accused of animal cruelty after he was photographed hitting a gun dog with a stick.

But the gossip-hungry media of course hints that this move has followed reports that the Queen will break with tradition this year by inviting Prince William’s girlfriend, Kate Middleton, to spend Christmas Day at Sandringham.

But the insider said: “William can take Kate along and know no one will see him. He’s actually very shy. He feels uncomfortable when people stare.”

The Middletons, William and Charity

This weekend rounds an unusual number of articles regarding Kate.km-09sep26-starlight

The Middletons and Starlight

Kate’s family hosted a table of 20 guests to help raise funds for Starlight, a UK charity for terminally ill children.  Their family business, Party Pieces, has been involved with Starlight parties of the past year.  The entire Middleton clan — Carole, Mike, Kate, Pippa and James — along with William, attended the formal event.

Carole says: ” Katekmwills-09sep26-starlight has been the inspiration behind our involvement with Starlight Children’s Foundation, a UK charity that helps brighten the lives of seriously and terminally ill children by granting their wishes and providing hospital entertainment.”

Kate parents also donated a party for 20 children as part of the auction prize.  After the event, William is said to have joined Harry and the Middletons in nearby Raffles to cap off the night.

William and Kate went to Marseilles?

Daily Mail Columnist Katie Nicholl claims that William and Kate have recently been spotted at Gatwick airport after returning from the south of France, flying economy with two casually dressed protection officers.  If true, it’d be their 2nd beach holiday together this summer (they were in Mustique in August).

‘They were very sweet and very normal,’ says my source. ‘They were casually dressed and boarded the plane with the rest of the passengers. They were very smiley to anyone who recognised them and spent most of the flight chatting away. At one point William leaned over and gave Kate a cuddle.’
