Katie Nicholl Continues to Promote Book

Royal correspondent Katie Nicholl continues to promote her new book, entitled William and Harry, which is already out in the UK.  She recently gave another interview to a South African publication, sharing her opinion on the Princes.  Here are some things she shared:

About how she started: Katie’s route to fame started when she witnessed Harry’s partying first hand as a young show business reporter covering an event at the Kensington Roof Gardens. “I had gone outside onto the terrace when Harry suddenly emerged from the VIP room. ‘You look freezing,’ he said as he tried to light his cigarette. ‘Do come and join my party. I was welcomed in and I was trusted.”

About her book: “I have been told Prince William was surprised that I found out about his first love, Rose Farquhar.”

About William & Kate Middleton: “”The relationship hasn’t always been smooth but they are making the most of their freedom. At the moment they go on long weekends together and we (the press) know nothing about it. When they get married all that will stop. William told Kate she was the one, but he was not ready to get married. He promised her his commitment and said he would not let her down, and she in turn agreed to wait for him.”

About Harry & Chelsy Davy: “I don’t think Harry is going to end up with Chelsy. They are very on and off. Chelsy has decided she wants to come back to Africa, which was never the plan.”

Other tidbits: William and Camilla’s daughter, Laura, used to have the most awful rows. But William got on with Camilla from the start. Harry, on the other hand, took more time to warm up to his stepmum.

Prince William News Bits (July 4, 2010)

William’s fight with Palace over his Falklands mission

Prince William is battling to go to the Falkland Islands next year as an RAF search-and-rescue helicopter pilot.

William finishes his training in the autumn and is due to travel to the Falklands for eight weeks next summer. But there is a huge question mark over whether Buckingham Palace will let him take up the post because Argentina is pressing its claim to the islands.

A source told The Mail on Sunday: “He will try everything in his power to make sure he goes out there with the rest of RAF Valley in Anglesey. He has Royal engagements and other official duties, and that has to be considered, but he is adamant that he is going.”

If this is true, does this rule out a royal wedding next year?…  Royal weddings almost always take place during the summer.  An 8-week Falklands tour of duty might prove too busy and distant for a proper wedding to take place.

Army Cuts: Prince William will fly old, unreliable choppers

Prince William is destined to fly old and unreliable helicopters in his next job – thanks to Prime Minister David Cameron’s spending axe. The Government reductions include cutting a £7billion programme for new search and rescue choppers.

Wills, who is on a two-year course at RAF Valley in Anglesey, North Wales, and other young pilots were due to fly the 190mph Sikorsky S92, dubbed “the safest helicopter in the world”. Instead they’ll have to stick with ageing Sea King choppers, which first entered service 33 years ago and are 30% slower.

William & Kate’s university residence rented for golf competition

With its secluded woodland and single access road, the sprawling estate opposite the famous Old Course in St Andrews, Fife, was the perfect place for the royal romance to flourish.  Now Strathtyrum, literally a tee shot from the 17th hole, is set to be overtaken by a handful of the world’s wealthiest golf fans seeking a haven during this year’s Open Championship.

A number of properties – thought to include the cottage used by William and girlfriend Kate Middleton – have been rented out for the tournament by estate owner Henry Cheape, a distant cousin of the prince and a friend to the Royals.

Prince William spent two years living in a farmhouse in the grounds along with his girlfriend and two other friends, before graduating with a degree in geography from St Andrews University in 2005.

William & Kate Engagement Craze Continues

America just wouldn’t stop.  Another cover.  This time, Life & Style…

When Kate Middleton finally walks down the aisle with Prince William, even her wildest imaginings will be surpassed! Life & Style has learned that the estimated value of Prince William’s inheritance is more than $24 billion.

“William will inherit the crown jewels, property and the royal art collection,” British journalist Katie Nicholl, author of the royal biography William and Harry, tells Life & Style. “Once Kate and William marry, the queen will give them a palace, and Kate will get a new Audi, the car manufacturer of choice for the royal family, and her own driver.”

Kate will be draped in expensive jewelry–including the crown jewels and the queen’s private collection, one of the largest in the world and worth roughly $57 million–and dressed by top designers. “Labels will be clamoring to dress her,” Nicholl explains.

William will become the head of the Royal Collection Trust, which includes more than 7,000 paintings, sculptures and antiques. He’s also heir to Queen Elizabeth’s private collection, which includes masterpieces by Leonardo da Vinci. Total value: an estimated $15 billion. The couple will have access to several historic British residences like Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and Kensington Palace, where his parents once lived in addition to the 310 properties passed down from the queen.

Caught on CCTV: Prince Willim & Kate Middleton Grocery Shopping

This likely did NOT happen last Sunday (Prince William was barely out of Africa last Sunday), but in late April when it was first reported that William & Kate were spotted in Blaenau Ffestiniog, in a grocery store called McColl’s, and on a Sunday evening.  Too bad, the owners must have sold the CCTV shots…

Prince William & girlfriend Kate Middleton popped into the modest McColl’s mini-market in the small town of Blaenau Ffestiniog, North Wales, last Sunday night.

William is none-too-cunning in his attempt to remain incognito because, in true regal style, he was not carrying any cash. At first, William denied point-blank that he was the Prince, despite the rather obvious presence of his security team. But his cover was blown when he had to call on his girlfriend Kate Middleton to settle up for his modest basket of pizza and chips – which she did with a platinum credit card that gave away their true identities.

Shop assistant Sioned Compton recognised him immediately, and as he presented his basket at her checkout, she excitedly exclaimed: “Oh my God! You’re Prince William, aren’t you?”

But William just looked down at his feet and muttered: “No. No, I’m not.”

Ringing up the necessities for a lazy night in – two frozen stonebaked-style  pepperoni pizzas, a bag of McCain frozen chips, an iceberg lettuce, a bag of salad leaves, a bottle of Tropicana orange juice and two bottles of water – the bill came to £12.60.

But when Ms Compton told her customer the total, he suddenly realised that, just like his grandmother who famously never carries cash, he had no money. William asked Miss Middleton: “Can you pay, please? I’ve not got any cash.”

But Kate had none either, so had to produce her credit card to pay up.

Prince William Admitted as Royal Society Fellow

But not without having the World Cup in mind…

Prince William - now a Royal Society fellow

Prince William - now a Royal Society fellow

Prince William delayed his arrival at a ceremony where he was made a fellow of the Royal Society so that he could watch England’s World Cup match against Slovenia. He had intended to arrive at London’s Royal Festival Hall towards the end of the first half, but delayed his trip from Clarence House by 37 minutes. William managed to see Jermain Defoe’s winning goal scored 22 minutes into the match, and also watched Frank Lampard’s shot from around 18 yards out fly over the bar a short while later.

William, who just turned 28, arrived at the Hall at about 3.41pm after a police-escorted journey that took just four minutes, ahead of the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh who arrived shortly later to see their grandson made a fellow.

The prince was given regular updates about the match during the event, to mark the 350th anniversary of the Royal Society.

The Royal Society is the national academy of science of the UK and the Commonwealth. It supports young scientists, engineers and technologists, influences science policy and debates scientific issues with the public.

Prince William & Kate Middleton News Bits (June 20, 2010)

Weekend tidbits (and ironically another round of non-stories) on Prince William & girlfriend Kate Middleton

Kate Middleton moves in with Prince William… so are wedding bells on the cards?

This has been falsely reported numerous times before.  This time is no different.  No concrete proof… just Katie Nicholl connecting the dots — citing recent outings by the couple spotted by the press and information gathered from the The Party Times website.

Prince William and long-time girlfriend Kate Middleton are busy home-making in Wales, sparking fresh rumours that they will shortly announce their marriage plans. Sources close to the couple say Kate has given up her full-time job at Party Pieces, her family’s internet party planning business, and now spends much of her time at William’s home in North Wales while he trains to be an RAF search-and-rescue helicopter pilot.

Reveals a “friend”: “Kate no longer works on a full-time basis at the offices of Party Pieces as those closest to her feel it wouldn’t be fitting for a future Queen to be working on a family-run website. Kate used to be the photographer for Party Pieces, but they’ve hired Millie Pilkington to replace her and Kate is now focusing on her life with William while he trains at RAF Valley. William will be training for three years and they agreed that Kate should be closer to him. They go out to the shops in Blaenau Ffestiniog for groceries and she’s settling in well.”

Kate Middleton warns Wills to stay away from Africa/Jecca

Bride-in-waiting Kate Middleton has ordered Prince William to keep out of Africa – and away from his Kenyan-based old flame Jessica Craig.

Concerned Kate has seen William become a shoulder to cry on for Jessica after the break-up of her engagement. She broke off her engagement to Hugh Crossley last October but was devastated when he married and became a dad four months later.

Kate hit the roof when William told her he wanted to return to Africa this month to support Jecca, 28, who’ll be hosting a charity marathon across the family wildlife estate.

Article: Daily Star

Note: Prince William has already been a supporter of the Safari Marathon.  In May, he received prospective runners in St. James’ Place.  Previous story here.  And besides, William doesn’t need to go to Lewa to see Jecca.  She lives in the UK and was recently spotted at Ascot.

William “kicking himself” for predicting his marriage 5 years ago

During a ski holiday five years ago, William, who turns 28 today, admitted that he didn’t want to get married until he was “28 or even 30“.

Now he is said to have told friends: “I was young, I’d had a few drinks… what can I say? I wish I had kept my big mouth shut!”

Sources say the prince is “deeply committed” to Kate Middleton, who he has been dating for almost eight years, but is determined to concentrate on his career as an RAF search and rescue pilot for the foreseeable future.
