Fergie: the Saga Continues…

Fergie after Cash for Access scandal broke out

Fergie after "Cash for Access" scandal broke out

Fergie to appear on Oprah

The Duchess of York is to appear on the Oprah Winfrey Show to make a public apology.

Sarah Ferguson has been in America since she was exposed in a tabloid newspaper for trying to sell access to the Duke of York for £500,000. She will record the 10 minute interview in Los Angeles on Friday but it will not be screened until next Tuesday, June 1st.

In the televised meeting, the 50-year-old will talk about the furore caused by her meeting with an undercover journalist as well as promote her new children’s book. She will not be paid for her appearance.

A source close to the duchess said: “She feels so much has been written she would like to have the chance to say sorry and explain – she’s not going to be making excuses. In a way, I suppose it is no surprise that she is going to be doing this in the US, it is where her main business interests are. Her business activities do not take place in the UK.”

The duchess has been interviewed by Oprah before, the first time soon after she divorced Prince Andrew.

Shamed Fergie is seeking bigger divorce payout from Andrew

The Duchess of York has held secret talks with Princess Diana’s lawyers about renegotiating her ‘paltry’ divorce settlement with Prince Andrew.

Sarah Ferguson consulted Anthony Julius at Mishcon de Reya, who famously negotiated a £17million pay off for Princess Diana when she divorced Prince Charles. The figure is in stark contrast to the £15,000 a year which the duchess receives from Prince Andrew after their marriage ended after ten years in 1996.

One leading divorce lawyer has estimated cash-strapped Fergie, whose reputation is now in tatters after the money-for-access scandal, is entitled to up to £7.5million more from Prince Andrew.

During the video scandal, Fergie expressed anger about the small size of her divorce settlement. Blaming it for all her money troubles, she said it had “left me without a pot to p*** in”.

Prince Andrew forgives Sarah Ferguson over cash scandal

Tearful Fergie was forgiven by ex-husband Prince Andrew or her “cash for access” scam. He sympathised as she poured out her heart in an emotional phone call.

The sobbing Duchess apologised for betraying his trust – and even offered to quit the room she has at his Windsor mansion. But Andrew told her: “Don’t be silly, you can stay as long as you like.”

A friend said: “He’s a very caring person. He thinks she was set up.”

Magazine Roundup: Wedding of the Century?

The US tabloids are going wedding crazy again, now with Star Magazine having Prince William and Kate Middleton on the cover with the title “Wedding of the Century.”  This, of course, is NOT to be taken seriously.

The magazine says:

We have eight pages of royal dish about William and Kate’s upcoming nuptials, including the A-list guests, the extravagant gown, where they’ll say “I do,” Kate’s surprise gift for William and more!

“William has always said he will be ready for marriage after his 28th birthday — that’s next month,” royal expert Nicholas Davies, author of William: King for the 21st Century, tells Star. “The timing is perfect for a wedding this year.”

Insiders estimate that as many as 3 billion awestruck viewers could tune in and the audience will not be disappointed by the ceremony with the couture gowns, lavish bouquets and priceless jewelry, including the 18-karat sapphire and diamond engagement ring William inherited from his late mother, Diana, which he plans to give to his bride-to-be.

This edition of Star Magazine is on stands now.

People Magazine also has a special issue currently on stands entitled “The Royals: Their Lives, Loves and Secrets”.  Prince William and Harry are on the cover, but the magazine includes royalty from all nations.   The magazine contains lots of recent photos, articles about Princess Diana, some coverage on Kate Middleton, royal fashion, marriages, jewels, etc.

Fergie Shows a Brave Face after Cash for Access Scandal

Sarah Ferguson, The Duchess of York, attempted to put a brave face on her cash-for-access scandal yesterday, wryly revealing she had written a book on ’stranger danger’.

At a New York book fair, Sarah Ferguson referred to her attempt to sell access to her ex-husband, Prince Andrew, to an undercover reporter for £500,000 – despite never having met the bogus businessman before.

“Actually, when I was going to talk to you about my books, I suddenly realised that maybe I should take a leaf out of my own books,” she told her audience at Book Expo America. “My books say they are “helping hand” books. And one of my books is Ashley Learns About Strangers… Or Matthew and the Bullies. Hmm.”

Her audience hooted with laughter.

Are Chelsy Davy & Kate Middleton Ready to Team Up?

They have not always been the best of friends – but Chelsy Davy and Kate Middleton could be teaming up for the World Cup in South Africa this summer. Chelsy has invited Kate to Cape Town for the football festival that starts next month.

Prince Harry’s Zimbabwean-born girlfriend has told friends she will be hosting parties after all the big games and she is hoping Harry and Prince William will join her. Harry will already be in the country as part of a week-long official tour with William. They will go to Botswana to the Tusk Conservation Charity and Lesotho to see the work of Harry’s charity, Sentebale. Chelsy is planning to stay at the beachside apartment she shares with her brother Shaun – and believes Kate would have a great time if she could make it too.

‘Chelsy is planning lots of parties and has invited William and Harry to join her although she knows they will be very busy,’ says Katie Nicholl’s source. ‘She has also asked Kate if she wants to come to Cape Town and she hopes Kate can make it. She is hoping to turn it into one big party. Kate has yet to make her mind up but was grateful to receive the invite.’

If Kate is in South Africa at the same time as William it will fuel speculation they are about to announce an engagement.

Has Chelsy Davy Finally Been Accepted into Royal Circles?

Chelsy Davy’s appearance at Prince Harry’s Wings Ceremony last week has once again cast the spotlight on the girl said to have captured the Prince’s heart.

She was always an unlikely candidate to be a royal bride but was Chelsy Davy’s appearance with Prince Harry a sign that she has finally been accepted by “The Firm”? While seasoned royal watchers had expected to see the 24-year-old at her boyfriend’s side for the proud occasion, onlookers were surprised by how close Chelsy has become to Harry’s family.

Appearing completely at ease with Harry’s relations, she warmly kissed Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, while chatting as convivially with the Spencer side of the family, Princess Diana’s sisters Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes. Chelsy also appeared to be on very familiar terms with Harry’s former nanny Tiggy Legge-Bourke (now Pettifer), who has remained close to both Princes since their mother’s death in 1997.

Despite the “on-off” nature of their sometimes volatile relationship, chummy Chelsy’s confident demeanour, effortlessly elegant in a cream chiffon mini-dress and matching blazer, at the ceremony at the Museum of Army Flying in Middle Wallop, Hampshire, proved she has been taken into the heart of “The Firm”.
