Prince Harry & Chelsy Davy News Bits (April 25, 2010)

These stories actually sound like playground gossip, and I frankly have difficulty believing either of them.

Prince Harry locks himself in loo

Prince Harry fled and locked himself in a loo as a pack of frantic girls chased him during a night out in a club at De Niros in Newmarket, Suffolk. The Prince – who has been helicopter training at nearby RAF Wattisham – was relaxing with pals. The squealing fans followed him into the gents – then climbed up the side of the cubicle he was hiding in to take snaps of him on their mobile phones.

An onlooker grinned: “It was mayhem – when one girl spotted Harry they all went mad for him. They wanted their picture with him but he just wanted a quiet life, so he went to the gents toilet to get away. But nothing would put them off. They dashed after him and a group of them piled into the the toilet after him. The poor chap couldn’t even escape in there. He was just having a lads night out. In London clubs he and William are largely left alone, but Harry caused a bit of a stir out in the sticks.”

The Prince thought he was safe in the cubicle. But then the gents door burst open.  Harry laughed the incident off afterwards, joking to pals that it was like being one of the Beatles.

Chelsy tries to renew friendship with Bubble; Harry unhappy…

Chelsy Davy & Olivia Bubble Perry

Chelsy Davy & Olivia "Bubble" Perry

There’s renewed trouble in Prince Harry’s Royal circle after his girlfriend Chelsy Davy made up with her best friend Bubble.  The Prince and his friends had snubbed Bubble, real name Olivia Perry, suspecting the 25-year-old of leaking stories about him and Chelsy.

But now Chelsy  has extended an olive branch to Bubble which has not gone down well with Harry’s close pal Julz Erleigh, his girlfriend Davina Harbord and her sister Astrid.  They are furious at the decision to welcome Bubble back, and it caused a big row at Eighties-themed nightclub Maggie’s in Chelsea last week.

“Chelsy and Harry were out together on Friday night but they are in the middle of a social storm. Bubble has been a social outcast for months but Chelsy and Bubble are now planning a dinner party. Bubble is even making a speech,” said a friend. “Chelsy thinks it is childish to hold a grudge against Olivia, so she’s told pals to pick a side and stick to it.”

Their Royal Injuries!

Duke of Edinburgh injures ankle after crashing carriage into tree stump

The Duke of Edinburgh

The Duke of Edinburgh

The Duke of Edinburgh has injured his ankle crashing his horse-drawn carriage into a tree stump. The 88-year-old escaped with only a “minor injury” to his ankle following the collision on the Windsor estate on Friday morning, Buckingham Palace said.

The Duke was out carriage driving in the 5,000-acre Great Park with a young female groom when the accident happened. A spokesman said the he lost control as the ponies started to “run away” immediately before the impact. The carriage did not overturn. Although the Duke did hurt his ankle, he was said to be in good spirits, and the injury has not forced him to cancel any engagements.

Duchess of Cornwall pulls her shoulder after breaking her leg

Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall revealed yesterday she has sustained a second injury two weeks after breaking her leg while hillwalking. She took to a wheelchair to complete her first royal engagement since fracturing her left leg near Birkhall on the Balmoral estate.

But now she has pulled a tendon in her right shoulder and is struggling on crutches once out of the wheelchair. “The leg doesn’t hurt at all,” she said. “It’s the rest of it that hurts when I’m trying to get up and lug myself about. Unfortunately, I’ve slipped a tendon in this shoulder. I’ve got no leg and an arm on one side and no arm and a leg on the other.”

Kate Middleton News Bits (April 24, 2010)

Just a few more tidbits on Kate Middleton as the “new princess” rumours start to die down…

Kate Middleton

Kate Middleton

Kate’s right to make us wait

A refreshing article by Fiona Phillips that echoes much of what Kate supporters have been saying — that she and Prince William will marry at their own time; that she has gotten undeserved media backlash lately; and that she is in fact a dignified, down-to-earth lady who has never put a foot wrong in the seven years that she’s been with William.

Sarah Ferguson gives Kate Middleton marriage advice

This story is somehow misleading.  The Duchess of York was in fact giving general marriage advice , and not specific about Kate.

“Remember that you’re marrying a beautiful man you are in love with and remember to make time for him, because I didn’t,” says Fergie.

Happy 84th Birthday to HM the Queen

Long Live the Queen!

Happy 84th Birthday, Ma’am!

Previously unpublished pictures of the Queen as a baby have been released to coincide with her 84th birthday today. The photographs form part of an exhibition of the work of the photographer Marcus Adams.

The 56 images on display include pictures of the then Princess Elizabeth which were taken to be sent to her mother and father, the future King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, while they were on a six-month tour of Australia and New Zealand. Among the collection is a poignant letter from the Princess’s nanny, Clara Knight, which reflects how many landmarks of their young daughter’s life the then Duke and Duchess of York missed while they were on the tour.

William & Kate attend yet another friend’s wedding

Let’s start with the non-gossip… The hard copy of the Daily Mail has this small article and pictures. Hopefully more pictures pop up online soon…

A society wedding with Kate in all her finery. But it’s not her turn . . .yet

Their rumoured engagement and future wedding plans have long been the subject of intense speculation. And for those eagerly anticipating another Royal Wedding, the sight of Prince William and girlfriend Kate Middleton arriving at a country church together will be sure to provoke more than a flicker of interest.

But this time, the couple were attending the nuptials of mutual friends Emilia d’Erlanger and David Jardine-Paterson in Devon.

Aristocratic Miss d’Erlanger, 27, was once touted as a potential bride for the Prince herself and was photographed with him on a cruise around the Greek Islands in 1999.  But she has been a trusted member of the Prince’s inner circle for years and has been a good friend to Kate, providing a shoulder to cry on when the pair briefly separated in 2007.

Strolling in the Spring sunshine yesterday, William and Kate looked relaxed and happy as they chatted with a blonde friend.

William & Kate not attending Swedish Royal Wedding

Sweden’s royal family were desperate to bag Prince William and his own lady-in-waiting Kate Middleton as star guests when Crown Princess Victoria weds fiancé Daniel Westling in summer.

But William has made it clear neither he nor Kate will be at the event in Stockholm. The prince is expected to say royal duties at the World Cup in South Africa will keep him away. Instead, Prince Charles will attend the wedding.

“He (William) would rather go anywhere than a royal wedding at the moment,” said a friend. “The Scandinavian royals are a lot more relaxed about protocol so Kate could go. But William feels it would be like firing a starting gun and their faces would be on souvenir tea towels by the time the service was over.”

William & Kate heading to the Abbey next year?

A real source?… or just another speculative article repeating what already has been said?…

Secret plans for Prince William to wed Kate Middleton at Westminster Abbey in August next year are being drawn up, reveals The People UK.

“The thought of a William and Kate getting married on a grey cold November day is unthinkable”, says a highly-placed source. “The truth is that August 2011 is already pencilled in. Originally, 2012 was considered but that summer will be dominated by the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee as well as the Olympics. Some senior Royals thought Westminster Abbey would be too sombre because it is where Diana’s funeral was held. But the majority view was that the Abbey funeral was actually an uplifting and hitch-free event, and as it is the place where the world said goodbye to his mother it would add to William’s wedding.”

Though they plan to do everything to avoid comparison from Prince Charles and Diana’s 1981 wedding, William & Kate are expected to kiss on the Buckingham Palace balcony.

Kate’s Ex Won’t Dish Dating Dirt

The race is on to publish the first definitive book on Prince William’s romance with Kate Middleton. Three royal commentators have secured publishing deals to produce accounts of the couple’s 8-year relationship and all have been doing their best (or worst) to find out about Kate’s love life before she fell for Wills. However, none have succeeded in wringing any salacious admissions from the lucky chap who was Kate’s first love: Willem Marx who now works as a journalist. Willem, 28, met Kate while both were at Marlborough College and, according to a contemporary, is the boy who “first broke her heart”.

Intriguingly Kate turned to Willem when she briefly broke up with Prince William. During their time apart Kate took Willem to Boujis, where they danced and drank Crack Daddy cocktails. He later visited the Kate’s Chelsea flat. (The picture accompanying the story recounts Kate’s night out with Willem, but at that time, there were no reports of Wills & Kate having trouble. In fact, articles said Wills knew and was comfortable with Kate and Willem’s friendship).

But a source close to Kate tells The Express: “She is aware that various people are attempting to make money from writing about her and that there have been efforts to contact Willem. But the truth is there are no skeletons in her cupboard and she is lucky to have – as does Prince William – a loyal and close-knit group of friends who she can trust.”
