A collection of photographs from the Royal Marines’ archive that show Prince Charles going through his commando training have emerged. The never-before-seen pictures, compiled by former Marines photographer Graham Sharp, document the Royal’s training with the service during the 1970s. They were thought to have been taken in 1974, when he was 26.

The heir to the throne is shown smiling and laughing during the arduous tests, including walking across a high wire and crawling through a tunnel.

Mr Sharp, 49, who spent 13 years with the Marines and now works as a driver, said: ‘I decided to sell everything because it was all in my loft gathering dust. The former Marine from Yeovil, Somerset, is now selling them items through Charterhouse Auctioneers in Sherborne, Dorset. The items, which are being sold on March 26, are expected to fetch up to £1,000.
