Newspaper tabloid journalist Piers Morgan compiles a list of 100 British celebrities who really matter. Prince William, Prince Harry and Kate Middleton make the top 20.

#4 Prince William
#4 Prince William
“William was 13 when I sat down for a quite extraordinary lunch with him and his mother. It was memorable for so many reasons, not least his undisguised dismay when Diana refused to let him drink any wine. ‘But you always let me have wine!’ he moaned. ‘William,’ she replied firmly, ‘you do NOT drink alcohol.’ Over the 2-hour encounter, the young prince was intelligent, funny, charming and wise beyond his years. A few years later, he invited me to an 18th-birthday drinks party for a select few editors.
William’s credentials to be high on this list are obvious. He’s very rich, the rising star of the Royal Family and will one day be our King. It’s hard to beat that particular CV.”

#19 Prince Harry
#19 Prince Harry
“I think Prince Harry is maturing into a thoroughly decent young man. I watched him in action at a recent military awards ceremony, and he was wonderfully warm and natural with a group of mothers who had lost their sons in action – hugging each one on stage. It reminded me so much of Diana.
My brother-in-law, then an Army colonel, trained both William and Harry at Sandhurst military academy and said they were both excellent soldiers, but more importantly perhaps, excellent down-to-earth chaps who mucked in with everyone else, asked for no favours and worked hard.
Harry doesn’t matter as much as William, because he’s probably not going to be King. However, he is next in line to the throne after his brother, and that makes him potentially very important indeed.”

#20 Kate Middleton
#20 Kate Middleton
“I’ve never met her, but my sister has (her husband trained William and Harry at Sandhurst), and says she’s a lovely girl – down-to-earth and very friendly. I thought she was a bit daft to go for the press so hard over privacy, on the basis that if you get into bed with the future King of England then you have to accept a certain increased scrutiny of your life. But after they split and got back together, I sensed a new, more mature Ms Middleton re-emerging into public life. She goes about the incredibly difficult task of being the girlfriend of our future monarch with remarkably good grace. I hope William marries her, because there aren’t many women around who can replace Kate and do such a good job.
If they do head down the aisle, then she will matter more than any other woman on this list, because she’ll one day be Queen. And that will afford her a bit of clout.”

It’s good to see some of the young royals get into the top 20. But wow… I can’t believe some of those other celebs placed above them.
