Chelsy Davy looked a mighty precious at the reopening of Chinawhite nightclub last week – but it has been revealed that her slinky black dress cost just 20 quid from a High Street chain. The savvy Royal WAG, 23, ditched couture in favour of a credit-crunch busting bargain.
Chelsy told the News of the World: “I wish I could say it cost £100,000 but it didn’t. It was around £20. I’m not good at shopping for clothes, I rarely go.”
Prince Harry’s on-off girlfriend still managed to steal the show at the Chinawhite party in central London. Chelsy’s got the thumbs-up from our Fabulous magazine fashion editor Lynne McKenna, who said: “With her girl-next-door looks, Chelsy’s little black dress is simple, yet effective. “And the price proves that you can be sophisticated and chic whatever you spend. By keeping the arm-length long, it’s a very classy look and perfect for the party season.”
Maybe Chelsy has been learning how to budget from student pals at London College of Law, where she is studying legal practice. She told us: “I’m finding my course really hard. Everyone seems to be so much better at it than I am, and they all find it easy. I’m finding it difficult.”
Chelsy then had a cozy chat with her ex, property owner Dan Philipson, 33, before kissing him on the cheek.
What’s so shocking about this £20 frock? If true, it’s nice to see Chelsy being so down to earth and self-deprecating. Although I doubt she knew who she was talking to when asked those questions. More importantly, can’t Dan Philipson disappear already? With their “canoodling” history, I’m not sure Harry would have liked to see him around Chelsy – especially when he’s away in another continent.
