Princess Anne opens her heart. She has admitted that her own daughter is a celebrity – and said that these days, it ‘comes with the territory’. Despite condemning the way the royal family has become ‘public property’, the Princess Royal said Zara, 29, had no choice but to accept a long list of lucrative sponsorship deals to support her horse riding career.

The Royal family, led by the Queen, ended their 10-day holiday cruise. Zara Phillips joins a sailing Team for Cowes Week. And Prince Andrew holidays in Sardinia (spotted with a woman) while someone breaks into his home in Windsor Great Park.

Happy Landings as the Royals End Their Holiday Cruise

The Royal Family were in high spirits yesterday when they took a walk down memory lane at the end of a 10-day holiday cruise. Three generations of royals, with Peter Phillips’s pregnant wife Autumn carrying a fourth, disembarked the five-star cruise ship, the Hebridean Princess, and took a nostalgic trip to the late Queen Mother’s home, the Castle of Mey.

The Queen paid £300,000 out of her own private funds to charter the 49-passenger vessel, although it cost taxpayers an estimated £1 million for police, divers, dog handlers, Ministry of Defence police marine units, and a Royal Navy Type 23 frigate, HMS Kent, to provide security for the trip.

Zara Phillips Joins Sailing Team for Cowes Week

Think Zara Phillips and you think jodhpurs, crops and horse riding competitions. But today, the young Royal proved that her sea legs are just as competitive as she swapped the equestrian life for one on the open waves.

Zara was taking part in the Artemis Challenge, which saw a fleet of six yachts sail round the Isle of Wight to win money for charity.

Prince Andrew in Sardinia while a Man Arrested for Breaking Into his Home

Cops have arrested a man on suspicion of breaking into the grounds of Prince Andrew’s house. The 43-year-old was nicked at his home in Colnbrook, Berks, over conspiracy to commit theft and is being held in police custody.

While all this was happening, Prince Andrew was spotted in a yacht in Sardinia, apparently with a woman massaging sun cream on his back. According to Richard Palmer, the woman was the wife of another guest, and not Prince Andrew’s new girlfriend

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II may be 84 but she still has plenty of byte – as she’s shown by joining the photo-sharing website Flickr.

The Queen has already uploaded more than 600 snaps, many of which are very rare, and she plans to write a frequently-updated diary of the Royal Family’s engagements.

The pictures include historic shots of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert from the early days of photography, plus the Queen as a child with her parents and in early royal duties.

The launch follows that of royal.gov.uk, the monarchy Twitter account in 2009 and the Royal Channel on YouTube in 2007.

A Palace statement said: “The Flickr photo site is the latest way the royal household is engaging with technological innovation.”

The monarch used to adore her annual cruises around the Western Isles of Scotland aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia and wept when the ship was decommissioned in 1997. Those days seemed destined to be more than a memory, but so keen was she to repeat the experience that she has spent an estimated £200,000 chartering a new cruise for her children, grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

Among the highlights of the trip will be two parties to celebrate the 60th birthday of The Princess Royal next month and the 50th birthday of The Duke of York earlier this year.

Bathed in glorious sunshine, an excited Royal Family arrived en masse at Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis to begin their holiday.

The Queen, dressed in a lime green trouser suit and pastel headscarf, boarded the luxury Hebridean Princess, which will be their home for the next ten days. She was joined by the Duke of York and his daughters, Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice.

The Princess Royal, boarded with a backpack and wearing cream trousers and a jacket, followed by her husband, Vice-Admiral Tim Laurence, who was carrying two bags. Viscount Linley, Princess Margaret’s son, was present with his wife Serena Stanhope and their two children, Charles and Margarita. The viscount’s sister, Lady Sarah Chatto, her husband, Daniel, and their sons, Samuel and Arthur, appeared cheerful as they boarded.

Among those due to join the trip later are the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Edward and the Countess of Wessex, with their children, and Peter Philips and his wife, Autumn.

The Queen was joined by two of her granddaughters as she took part in the traditional Easter Sunday service at Windsor Castle.

A crowd of well-wishers gathered outside St George’s Chapel to see members of the Royal Family as they arrived for the Mattins service.

The Queen, wearing a long violet coat and matching hat accessorised by a flower, was joined by her children Prince Andrew, Princess Anne and Prince Edward.
Prince William says homelessness ‘tarnishes’ society

Prince William, who is patron for Centrepoint – a charity for homeless young people that he first visited with his mother – admitted that he has had a privileged upbringing but said his work with the group had given him a greater understanding of the issues involved.

Christmas 2009 went according to tradition, with the Royal Family attending the Christmas Day service at Mary Magdalene Church, greeting people lined up in the streets to meet them, and returning to Sandringham House for lunch. The Queen’s Christmas message was then broadcast in the afternoon.

The whole family was there for the church service. Pictures show Prince William and cousin Zara Phillips linking arms, the Queen receiving flowers from children, William hugging a church regular, Zara & Autumn (visiting with husband Peter Phillips) in killer heels, plus a host of Philip Treacy hats. Security is reportedly significantly tighter this year.

Adorable! The Sun shows a couple of amazing pictures featuring Prince Charles and Princess Anne as toddlers. The black and white pictures show them alongside their mum and dad, then Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip.

It appears that the family was sharing a rare moment with the Queen Mother, King George VI, and Princess Margaret. It is believed the shots were taken in 1951 by a member of the Buckingham Palace staff — before King George VI’s death in 1952.

The photos are due to be sold at an auction in Colchester next week.

Columns and Opinion

Richard Palmer of the Express writes saying it was wrong for the Queen to have issued media bans on Sandringham. As public servants, he believes the Royal Family has to accept that there would be genuine public interest on their private lives. And as taxpayers who provide for their protection and livelihood, the British people have the right to know everything that they do. Apparently, in the last couple of weeks, the Queen’s lawyers have threatened the media twice: (1) to stay away from Sandringham this winter, and (2) to stay away from Prince Harry and his chums while on holiday in Botswana. I’m with the Queen for trying to implement these bans. The paparazzi and media could be vile, vile creatures. Gone were the days when the press actually treated the RF with reverence and honour. Now it’s all about selling papers — hence the shameless attempts at capturing unroyal behaviour, boozy nights and crotch shots. Let us remember that the RF also has personal income that don’t come from taxpayers. And even if people paid to feed them, it doesn’t mean they should give up their privacy. The Queen has every right to protect her family’s dignity. They are, after all, still people — not national possessions.

And on a completely random note: Do you think Carole Middleton is jealous of Kate’s youthful looks? This woman seems to believe so, and tells her own story to prove a point. Really? Seems rather silly to me…Related Posts:
