Captain Prince Harry to Curb Partying and Settle Down?

Prince Harry, currently a lieutenant, is expected to be promoted to the rank of captain as early as May, which will put him on a roughly equal salary footing to his older brother.

Both joined the Household Cavalry at the same time but Prince William was paid more and promoted more quickly because of his university degree. However, Prince Harry graduated from Sandhurst first – in 2006.  His promotion is in line with his length of service rather than on merit, Army sources said.

Friends joke that the brothers’ competitive spirit could drive Harry to announce his engagement first, too. Harry is expected to start training soon to be an Apache attack helicopter pilot, bringing him to Middle Wallop in Hampshire – just an hour away from Chelsy.  Some friends say they have “sorted out their differences and are ready to settle down together.”  That means Harry is ready to curb his partying…

… or isn’t he?

During the eve of Kate Middleton’s birthday, fun-loving Prince Harry was partying at Raffles in Chelsea, and even had a slight mishap as he left his favourite club.  He left the club in the early hours and risked damaging his crown jewels as he walked blindly into metal pole.  Natalie Imbruglia also calls him “the best dancer ever.”

First Official Portrait of William & Harry Unveiled

Painted by Nicky Philipps, a new portrait shows Princes William and Harry engaged in “brotherly banter” as they pose in the Library of Clarence House. Both wear the dress uniform of the Household Cavalry. Miss Philipps was commissioned and had five sittings with the Princes beginning in August 2008. She hopes to have captured “a behind-the-scenes glance at the human element of royal responsibility”

“I didn’t want any sort of overbearing formality about it because they are still young and William hasn’t got to his role yet. They are Army officers and they are brothers. Although I was commissioned to paint them in their official context, I hope I have also captured some of the brotherly banter that characterised the sittings.”

She also found the princes – who created their own poses – “charming, and tall. They were extremely easy to work with.”

The painting will be displayed for the next six months in London’s National Portrait Gallery’s Contemporary Galleries.

Harry & Chelsy to Meet Up for World Cup

A newly reunited couple, Prince Harry and Chelsy Davy are planning their 2010 activities.  Newspapers report that they are spending the New Year with Chelsy’s family in Mauritius.  Now it seems they plan to meet up for the World Cup in South Africa in June — just in time to celebrate their 5th anniversary.

Chelsy is said to take time off from her job for a year to travel the world – particularly  in Asia and Australia.  Harry, meanwhile, will spend most of 2010 in Middle Wallop in Hampshire completing his Army Air Corps training.

‘Chelsy can’t wait to start her travels in the New Year but she really wants to make sure she gets to see Harry as well,’ says a source.

Duncan Larcombe of The Sun has already reported last October that both Prince William and Prince Harry are going to the World Cup next year.

Sandringham Officers Seize Cameras During Sunday Church with Royals

Prince William plays with a child after the church service

Has the situation gone too far?  Security at Sandringham is significantly tighter this year — to the point that it angered regular royal watchers when Norfolk police confiscated cameras during the Sunday church service attended by the royal family.  Alas, those hoping for a memento of the Queen were unable to bring anything home.  They accused officers of treating them like paparazzi.  Besides, the Royal Family had previously said that public photos were allowed during the Christmas church service.  Sandringham officers admitted that the royals have not asked them to act this way, and that the move was a mistake

A Blu-ray Player for the Queen and a Whoopee Cushion for the Duke

I have no idea how anyone could know such details, but the tabloids say so…  Prince William and Prince Harry got the gadget-loving queen a Blu-ray player for Christmas.  And for their grandad?  A whoopee cushion — which they had to wait for him to sit on for a laugh.

Christmas 2009 for the Royals

Christmas 2009 went according to tradition, with the Royal Family attending the Christmas Day service at Mary Magdalene Church, greeting people lined up in the streets to meet them, and returning to Sandringham House for lunch. The Queen’s Christmas message was then broadcast in the afternoon.

The whole family was there for the church service. Pictures show Prince William and cousin Zara Phillips linking arms, the Queen receiving flowers from children, William hugging a church regular, Zara & Autumn (visiting with husband Peter Phillips) in killer heels, plus a host of Philip Treacy hats. Security is reportedly significantly tighter this year.

Gossip, Rants & Magazine Covers

The current issue of Hello! Magazine features Prince William on the cover.  Inside are exclusive pictures and an interview from his recent charity event with Centrepoint.   This special treatment for Hello! has angered other media sources, particularly Richard Palmer of the Daily Express.  Apparently other photographers have been told not to take pictures from the event as it was “private.”  Last week, the Sun was also given exclusive coverage for the Millies Awards (hello… it’s officially called The Sun Military Awards!)  Now Mr. Palmer accuses William of hypocrisy and selling his appearances to the highest bidder.

Harry & Chelsy in a 9-Hour Christmas Lovefest

How’s that for a raunchy title?  Prince Harry was seen staying overnight at Chelsy Davy’s London flat, arriving around 11pm and departing just before 8am the following day.  It’s your ordinary sighting, I guess, except that they sensationalized the story and added a rather tacky title.
