Royal Wedding: A Day to Remember

After a beautiful, breathless day, I’ve finally had time to gather my thoughts and the hurricane of information, pictures and videos. And as you might have noticed, the blog crashed (I somehow expected that) due to overwhelming bandwidth. But alas, I hope everyone enjoyed the Royal Wedding as it unrolled before the world’s eyes. Such a day to remember!

Today, the Official Wedding photographs by Hugo Burnand were released:

SURPRISING NEWS of the day:  The new Duke & Duchess of Cambridge will NOT be going on honeymoon right away (I can almost hear William giggling for once again outfoxing the media).  They will spend a private weekend somewhere in the UK.  William returns to work in Wales next week, and the couple will go on honeymoon (overseas) sometimes in the future.

Here’s a video of William & Kate walking hand in hand before they board a helicopter to go “somewhere” for the weekend

So what was your favourite Royal Wedding moment?  When Kate first stepped out of that car to unveil her timeless, elegant Sarah Burton dress?  When William whispered “You look beautiful” the moment he saw her?  Harry’s cheeky glance as Kate walked the aisle?  The ring that, at one point, looked too small to fit?  The carriage ride?  The double kiss from the balcony?  The Aston Martin exit?

William & Kate: Kiss #1

Obviously, there’s too many articles, photos and videos about the Royal Wedding. Here are comprehensive sites on where you can catch up on the wedding of the decade:

And as a wedding gift you can still donate to William & Kate’s Charitable Wedding Gift Fund, which will benefit various hand-picked charities.

Another question for royal bloggers like me: What should Kate now be called?  While her official name is Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, it sounds much too formal for a young, refreshingly “normal” royal couple.  So will it be Princess Kate?  Just Kate?  My money is on Princess Catherine.  It’ll be interesting how the press naming game pans out…

Once again,
CONGRATULATIONS TO WILLIAM & KATE
A beautiful day for a beautiful couple!

ROYAL WEDDING DAY!

It will be a momentous day in history!

News frenzy, obviously, so it’ll be difficult to update the blog to-the-minute.
I shall update with links when possible, but you can catch the fascination by following us on Twitter.

You can watch the Royal Wedding Live online via Youtube’s The Royal Channel

OFFICIAL ROYAL TITLES: The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge!
They will also have a Scottish title, the Earl and Countess of Strathearn, and a Northern Irish one – Baron and Baroness Carrickfergus.

The Final 2 Days…

Will we be able to manage all the news?  It’s insane!

So what happened today?

At the break of dawn, well-wishers already camping outside Westminster Abbey were treated to a SPECTACULAR dress rehearsal with hundreds of soldiers, sailors and airmen practicing ahead of the big day.  Article, pictures & video here.

At 08:45, Kate Middleton and her family left their home in Bucklebury, Berkshire and headed for London, settling at the Goring Hotel, where they will stay until the wedding.  (Take note of a zoomed in picture of a piece of paper in Kate’s car, fueling media speculation that Kate may have let slip her wedding vows.)  Kate was seen going to Clarence House, unpacking a box from the boot of her car and chatting with Palace staff.

Later that evening, William, Kate, Harry and the Middletons headed to Westminster Abbey for their final wedding rehearsal. Article, pictures here

On Tuesday night, William took time off to play football for the second week in a row.

And The Sun claims William & Kate may be heading to America….

3 Days to Go till the Royal Wedding!

Less than 3 DAYS TO GO!

Much too many articles to include and much too busy, so this will be quick…

The news is going into overdrive.  I personally haven’t gone more than 30 minutes on TV without some Royal Wedding news bit.  America’s morning shows are now broadcasting from London.  The Royal Wedding is hard to miss…

But behind the hoopla…

Just in: William & Kate have chosen London-based floral designer Shane Connolly to create the floral displays for their wedding.  The floral displays in the Abbey will include eight 20 feet-high trees: six English Field Maple and two Hornbeam.

Kate is currently with her parents at Bucklebury, Berkshire.  She’s due back in London very soon to carry on a string of rehearsals before the big day.  Now let’s pray it won’t rain… or at least not too hard to put a damper on things.  The countdown continues…

5 Days to Go: Royal Wedding Guests & Abbey Seating Arrangements

Now that the Queen has officially consented to the marriage of her most “beloved” grandson Prince William to “trustly and well-beloved” Catherine, the Royal Wedding bandwagon is in full swing…. now just 5 DAYS AWAY

Inside Westminster Abbey

Select Guest List for the Westminster Abbey Service Released

Only guests with public presence were released. Among them a list of foreign royalties and dignitaries. Among the celebrities, there’s David & Victoria Beckham, Elton John & partner, Guy Ritchie, Mr. Bean Rowan Atkinson, Joss Stone, photographer Mario Testino and Australian Olympic swimmer Ian Thorpe.

Westminster Abbey Seating Plan

A seating plan released ahead of the royal wedding ceremony has revealed that only the couple’s nearest and dearest will be able to witness the wedding ceremony for themselves.  Despite the 1,900 guests, it shall remain an intimate ceremony.

On the South Lantern: Front row: The Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles & Camilla, Prince Harry. Behind them, foreign royals.
On the North Lantern: Front row: Mike & Carole Middleton, James Middleton. Behind them, the Spencer family – mainly William’s uncle and aunts from Diana’s side.

More than 1,000 of those in the Abbey will have to rely upon video screens to follow the service.

A good illustration of what the seating arrangement in the Abbey will look like can be found here.

The Archbishop of Canterbury gives an interview

He said he had been struck by their wedding preparations, describing the couple as courageous and unpretentious. The head of the Church of England praised the couple’s “simplicity” and the way they had dealt with the build-up to the wedding and wishes them “every richest blessing in their life together.”

Spotlight on the Bride

As the wedding draws closer, the world craves to know more about the future princess… what she’s like, what she wears, what she’s doing now…

What is Kate Middleton really like? Friends speak out to reveal a very grounded, down-to-earth, diligent, measured if not slightly “boring” princess-to-be.

Kate’s popularity soars. Lately, it’s all about Kate. They want her pictures, her clothes, her ring, her handbag. “I wouldn’t be surprised if Kate Middleton’s legacy is bigger than the legacy of the Olympics, both domestically and internationally,” Dr Harold Goodwin, a professor of tourism at the University of Leeds, told The Times.

Revealed: How Kate and William both went to Chile with Raleigh International Expedition during their gap years. While William has videos released of his 10-week mission in Chile, not many know that Kate went on the same expedition only months away. This was before the pair met as students in St. Andrews.

Wedding and Honeymoon Tidbits

If tabloids are to be believed, William & Kate are preparing little surprises for each other. Kate’s wedding gown is kept secret from William. He’s keeping the honeymoon destination a surprise. She’s bought bikinis for their honeymoon on a recent shopping trip (picture here). And now William prepares a sexy hamper of goodies for their Royal Wedding night. Ooh-la-la!
